Character Commissions

Character commissions are broken down by level of finish and by cropping of the figure, so you can customize it to exactly what you're looking for.

Want concept art of your original character? A portrait of loved ones to celebrate an anniversary? Or maybe a new profile picture for you? It can all be done with my character commissions.

There are extra fees for additional figures, and traditional art. These fees listed here are the same for all levels of finish and cropping.

Each Additional Character +50% Base Fee
Traditional Media +100% Base Fee

There are background fees that vary based on level of finish and are detailed in the following sections. Simple background design elements are included in the base fee and not subjected to an additional background fee. You can also mix and match level of finish for your character art and the background art.

Commission FAQ

I'm interested in commissioning you. What's my next step?
Please get in touch! Filling out a contact form is the fastest and easiest way to get started. If your project doesn't fit what's available, reach out through the contact page for general inquiries to discuss it with me.

What should I expect the process to look like?

We will discuss the project's details and create a contract for the commission to mutually protect the artist and commissioner. Upon receipt of 50% of the agreed commission fee, I will make concept sketches that I send to you for approval. You can request edits at this point. I will then produce a tight sketch that includes any revisions from the first stage. This will be sent for approval and you can make small edit requests at this stage before the design goes to final. I will send you a watermarked final to show completion of the commission and upon receipt of the final 50% of the commission fee, I will release the final artwork to you watermark-free for you to enjoy.

Is commissioned art made digitally or with traditional materials?
All commissions are executed digitally unless otherwise requested. There are additional fees for traditional artwork to cover costs of materials and extra time needed to complete artwork, as well as shipping to send you the original artwork.

How do you take payment for commissions?
Payments are handled through PayPal or Ko-Fi. The choice is yours!

How long do projects usually take to complete?

Please allow one to three business weeks for turn around time. Turnaround depends on how busy I am, health, and complexity of the project.

If you desire a project to be turned around in less than one week, you will be subjected to a rush fee equal to 100% of the total commission fee. This applies to all types of commissions.

◆    ◆    ◆

01

general terms

  • Prices are subject to change based on demand.
  • I have the right to reject an order for any reason.

  • 02

    payment

  • All fees quoted are in USD. You can pay through PayPal or Ko-Fi.
  • Commissions are paid split 50% upfront and 50% after completion of final art. You have the option to pay 100% upfront if you want to.
  • Do not send any payment before I have agreed to take on your commission and requested you to send me payment. Sending payment without approval does not guarantee a commission slot or get your art done faster.
  • In the event that a contract is terminated for whatever reason after work has begun, 50% of the commission fee paid upfront will be kept by the artist. If you paid 100% upfront and the work has not been finished at time of contract termination, 50% will be reimbursed back to you.

  • 03

    process & delivery

  • All commissions start with the inquiry phase, where the details of the commission are discussed including art details, time frame, and fees. A contract detailing all this information is signed by both artist and client to ensure both parties are protected and hold up their ends of the agreement.
  • The art goes through a sketch concept phase, a tight sketch phase, and delivery of the final art. All clients receive a high resolution image along with a web-friendly size for sharing. If you commissioned a piece of traditional art, you will also be mailed the physical art.
  • Please allow at least one (1) to three (3) business weeks for turnaround time. You will be quoted a time frame during the inquiry phase based on complexity of the project, when you need the art by, how busy I am, and my own health status. If you want your project sooner than one business week, you will be responsible for a rush fee of 100% of the total commission fee.

  • 04

    revisions

  • You get three (3) opportunities for changes on the commissioned piece included in the price. More changes beyond this are subject to a fee of $10 per change, with changes after final art delivery subject to a fee of 25% of the total commission fee.
  • If you would like me to change something in the drawing you had previously approved, you will automatically be charged the $10 per change fee.

  • 05

    copyright & usage

  • I, Milo Marie (the artist) of Studio Joy Wonder:
    • reserve the right to cancel and refund the order at any time for any reason.
    • retain all copyrights over the commissioned artwork.
    • retain right to display commissioned artwork in my portfolio or for promotional purposes at my discretion. This right can be waived if it is bought by the client.
  • Commissioner may not use artwork commissioned for direct financial gain (i.e. reselling artwork, making products with the artwork on it for sale). If commissioner desires to do this, they must negotiate buying that right from the artist.
